WCSO Arrests Teacher For Enticiment Of A Child For Sexual Purposes

On Monday, November 1st 2010, The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department arrested and charged Lara Wells with enticement of a child under eighteen years of age for sexual purposes. The investigation began when Wayne County School Superintendent Robert Dean and Wayne County High School Principal B.R. Jones reported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department that Wells, a Wayne County High School Teacher, had been participating in numerous text message conversations with a Wayne County High School student. The text messages were sexual in nature.
Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Investigators Mike Mozingo and Kevin Stevens were assigned to the case by Sheriff John Stein Farrior. Several witnesses were interviewed during the course of the investigation and the text messages were recovered as evidence.
A probable cause hearing was held in Meridian, Ms before Circuit Court Judge Lester Williamson Jr. on Monday, November 1st 2010. County Attorney Curtis Bates represented the state at the hearing and Investigator Mike Mozingo testified. Judge Williamson found sufficient probable cause and issued an arrest warrant. Bond was set at $5,000.00 by Circuit Court Judge Williamson. Investigator Mozingo will present the case to the January 10th 2011 Wayne County Grand Jury.
