Drug Arrest

Charles Dewayne Silas, Jr., of Conyers, Georgia was charged (Jan. 6) with DUI refusal to submit to testing, speeding on a state highway and a hold for both the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. Investigators discovered five pounds of marijuana, 803 Zanax pills, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine and a bottle containing a liquid. Sheriff Jody Ashley said it was believed that the liquid was a strong narcotic that is codeine based. Over the weekend, Justice Court Judge Steve Walker set a bond of $200,000 for Silas. WCSD deputy Wesley Waites and Mississippi Highway patrolman Jeremy Carr worked the case along with Alex the drug dog.
