Counterfeit Operation Halted
April 04, 2018
The U.S. Secret Service, with assistance from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, arrested two people Tuesday accused of passing counterfeit money. Katie Ashley Tate Dubose, 37, and Christopher Norman Bishop, 45, were arrested after a year-and-a-half-long investigation into the counterfeit currency operation. The two are accused of taking part in a sophisticated operation to print and distribute fake money. Bishop and Dubose are each charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of passing counterfeit money. Both are federal charges. At the time of his arrest, Bishop was out on bond for a murder charge from four years ago that has not gone to trial yet, according to the sheriff. Police arrested Bishop in 2014 after he allegedly shot and killed his live-in girlfriend, Carla Gray. The investigation is ongoing and other arrests are pending, according to Wayne County Sheriff Jody Ashley.
