Texas Fugitive Arrested By WCSO

Robert Joseph Smith

 
A wanted parolee from Texas was arrested without incident on November 22nd 2006, at approximately 1715 hours. Robert Joseph Smith was wanted by Bexar County, Texas for a parole violation. Smith was originally charged with robbery by threats. Investigator Stevens received a telephone call from an individual that had learned that Smith was a fugitive from Texas and was working at a location in the Eucutta Community. Waynesboro Police Department Officer Jimmy Bunch received information from another individual that reported that Smith was living on Spring Street in Waynesboro and knew that he was wanted somewhere.
 
Investigator Stevens communicated with Authorities in Texas and confirmed that Smith was wanted by the Texas Department of Justice. Investigator Mike Mozingo, Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett, and Investigator Kevin Stevens took Smith into custody Wednesday afternoon. Smith will remain in the Wayne County Adult Detention Center awaiting transport to Texas.
