Drug Arrest Stems From Traffic Stop

The South Mississippi Narcotics Task Force arrested Eric Lamont Slater and Sergio D’Paul Harris on December 1st 2006. Slater was charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of ecstacy while Harris was charged with probation violation. SMNTF Commander Brent Purcell and Agent Johnny Smith attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle operated by Slater on Highway 184. Slater led the Officers on a short low speed pursuit that ended on Turner Street. Wayne County Justice Court Judge Jane Hutto set Slater’s bonds at a total of $25,000.00 while Harris remains in custody on the probation violation pending a hearing in Circuit Court.
