Juveniles Damage Numerous Mailboxes In Clara Community

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department has solved a rash of weekend mailbox vandalism with the arrest of three fourteen year old juveniles. On Saturday and Sunday the Sheriff’s Department began answering numerous reports of mailboxes being destroyed in the Clara Community. Sheriff Farrior assigned Deputies to perform extra patrol in the area. The extra patrol paid off Sunday night at approximately 0130 hours, when Deputy Russell Douglass located three juvenile males on an ATV. Further Investigation revealed that the three juveniles were responsible for the mail box vandalism.
Sheriff Farrior, Investigators Kevin Stevens and Mike Mozingo, Deputies Michael Patton, Russell Douglass, Wesley Waites, & Tim Hollinghead were involved in the investigation. There have been approximately sixty mail boxes destroyed and two ornamental light fixtures damaged. Investigators also determined that a school bus parked at Clara School was vandalized by the three juveniles.
The mailboxes that were destroyed were located on the Clara Strengthford Road, Maynor Creek Drive, Big Creek Road, Buckatunna-Clara-Chicora Road, Hudsontown Road, Roofus Hudson Road, Roy Shoemake Drive, Clara Road, Bud Stevens Road, and Authier Drive. The Sheriff’s Department has been in contact with majority of the victims. Anyone that has had a mailbox damaged that has not contacted the Sheriff’s Department should call 601-735-3801 to file a report.
In accordance with laws governing juveniles, the names of the juveniles can not be released. The case will be prosecuted in the Wayne County Youth Court.
