Skelatal Remains Found On River

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department received a call from an individual reporting that he discovered a body while fishing on the Chickasawhay River in Northern Wayne County. Sheriff Stein Farrior, Deputy Wesley Waites, Investigators Mike Mozingo & Kevin Stevens, Deputy Charles Everett, Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett, and SMTF Agent Johnny Smith responded. The individual led officers to the location of the skeletal remains which were located on the bank of the river. Initial Investigation revealed the identity of the man as being S. T. Alfred from Hattiesburg, Ms. Alfred was entered into the NCIC as a missing person on December 2nd 2006 by Hattiesburg Police Department. Alfred reportedly disappeared from Hattiesburg, Ms under suspicious circumstances. Medical Examiner Mark West has ordered an autopsy. The case is being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Hattiesburg Police Department, Clarke County Sheriff’s Department, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Alfred was driving a 4-door dark blue navy blue 1996 Buick Road Master bearing license plate number 358 MNV, which is still missing.
