Two Charged With Grand Larceny

September 21, 2009

On Saturday September 20th 2009, The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department arrested and charged Jonathan McGill and Roshan Clanton with grand larceny. The arrests stem from employees of the mechanic shop located at Sturdivant wood yard discovering that the several items in the shop had been stolen during the night. Deputy Jamey Beard responded and conducted an initial investigation. Several tractor parts along with heavy duty truck parts were listed as stolen. Deputy Beard observed two sets of tracks leading from the fence to the shop area. Deputy Beard and the victim notified the local scrap metal recycle yards to be on the look out for the items.

About 0900 hrs, one of the local scrap metal yards had the three two individuals bring the items in to sale. The scrap yard and the victim blocked the individuals in and Deputy Tim Hollinghead responded and placed the three individuals into custody. The victim identified the stolen items. During the investigation, Investigators Mike Mozingo and Kevin Stevens learned that one of the individuals was not aware that the items were stolen and had been duped into providing identification to sale the items. Roshan Clanton and Jonathan McGill were charged with grand larceny. Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Britton Sr. set bond at $25,000.00 for each of the individuals. Investigator Stevens will present the case to the January 2010 Grand Jury.
