WCSO Deputies Nab Fugitive

A fugitive listed on NCIC as an escaped inmate with the Mississippi Department of Corrections was apprehended by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department early Wednesday morning. Earnest Dewayne Bunch was listed as an escaped inmate for allegedly walking off of a MDOC Restitution Center in Jackson County.
Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies Jamey Beard and Kyle Smith responded to the report of suspicious activity at the Exxon Station in Waynesboro and confronted Bunch. Bunch resisted arrest and in the process assaulted on of the Deputies. Bunch was taken into custody after brief struggle and with the quick assistance of Waynesboro Police Department Officers. Bunch was charged with numerous misdemeanor charges as well as assault on a law enforcement officer and felony taking of a motor vehicle.
Bunch appeared before Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Britton Sr. where bond was set at $10,000.00 on each felony charge. The case will be presented to the July 2010 Wayne County Grand Jury
