Non-Compliant Sex Offender Apprehended

Wayne County Sheriff’s Department has arrested and charged Ben Needom for failing to comply with the sex offender registration laws. Needom had been non-compliant since August 2005, and his whereabouts were unknown. A warrant was issued for Needom’s arrest and he was entered into the NCIC system.
On July 31st 2006, a Harrison County Sheriff’s Department Deputy responded to a call of a suspicious person in a neighborhood. The suspicious person turned out to be Needom. When the Deputy conducted a NCIN inquiry Needom’s sex offender status and the warrant showed up. Needom was transported to the Wayne County Adult Detention Center. Wayne County Justice Court Judge Jane Hutto set Needom’s bond at $2,500.00 at the Initial Appearance Wednesday morning. Needom’s registration was brought to current status. The case will be presented to the January 2007 Grand Jury.
