Accident Investigation Leads To Drug Arrest

On November 5th 2006, at approximately 2145 hours, an individual called The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department reported that a vehicle had wrecked on the Elbert Mozingo Road. Deputy Russell Douglass and Sheriff Stein Farrior responded to the accident. Deputy Douglass learned that an outstanding warrant existed for the Jeffery Scott Pitts, driver of the vehicle. Deputy Douglass found Pitts to be in possession of approximately 12 grams of ice crystal methamphetamine. Approximately $1,200.00 cash money along with a handgun was seized.
Pitts was charged with possession of ice crystal methamphetamine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm; possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, careless driving; no insurance, public drunk, possession of drug paraphernalia, & contempt of Justice Court. SMNTF Agent Brad Singleton will be presenting the case to the 2007 Grand Jury. Pitts remains in the Wayne County Adult Detention Center awaiting and Initial Appearance.

Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Britton Sr. held an Initial Appearance Tuesday evening at which time bond was set for Pitts in the amount of $27,500.00.
