On December 7th 2006, at approximately 2145 hours, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department received a call reporting that a white male was in the process of stealing a generator from a residence located on Highway 184 West. Investigator Mike Mozingo and Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett responded to the scene to find that the suspect had left with the generator. The victim knew the suspect and was able to provide a very good vehicle description.
Investigator Mozingo located the vehicle on Azalea Drive in Waynesboro and conducted a traffic stop. Waynesboro Police Officers Leroy Barnett and Nakita Stone assisted Investigator Mozingo at the traffic stop. Investigator Mozingo learned that the generator was sold to an individual in Waynesboro. Daniel Allan Moss was arrested and charged with grand larceny. Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett and WPD Officers Leroy Barnett and Nakita Stone recovered the stolen generator.
Moss will remain in the Wayne County Adult Detention Center awaiting action of the June 2007 Grand Jury. Bond for Moss will be denied due to the fact that Moss was free on bond for another felony crime.
