WCSO & SMNTF Make Drug Arrest At Roadside Park On Hwy 84

On January 17th 2006 at approximately 1500 hours, Christopher Pittman of Highway 84 East, Laurel, Ms, was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett and Investigator Mike Mozingo. Barnett and Mozingo observed two vehicles parked at the roadside park on highway 84 West. Barnett and Mozingo observed the occupants of the vehicles acting very nervous. Barnett and Mozingo approached the parked vehicles to investigate. Pittman attempted to evade the officers. Pittman was found to be in possession of approximately $400.00 worth of oxcycontin.
SMNTF agents Brent Purcell and Johnny Smith were called to the scene. Pittman was arrested and charged with possession of oxcycontin with intent to distribute. The SMNTF will present the case to the June 2007 Grand Jury.
