Shooting Solved - Two Arrested

The investigation of a shooting incident on January 17th 2007, on Millsville Road, that rendered one man seriously injured and two other individuals with moderate injuries has resulted in the arrest of two suspects. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department made the arrest Friday, February 2nd 2007. Gage Hale, who is 16 years old,has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Jeremy Dale Perry, 27 years old, is charged with 2 counts of accessory after the fact to aggravated assault. Perry is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Hale is charged as an adult because Mississippi Statute states that an individual thirteen (13) years old and above that commits an act with a deadly weapon is automatically certified as an adult.
The Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and the Sheriff’s Department has been working diligently to find out what happened in this incident. Officers collected physical evidence from the scene and obtained statements from numerous people. The facts of the case have also been discussed with the District Attorney’s office. “Ultimately the Grand Jury will have to decide on the case”, said Sheriff Farrior.
This case is still open and under investigation. The firearm that was believed to have been involved in the incident has not been recovered. Hale and Perry appeared before Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Brittion Sr. who set Hale’s bond at a total of $50,000.00. The total of Perry’s bonds are $60,000.00. The case will be presented to the June 2007 Grand Jury by Sheriff Farrior.
