WCSO Investigates Incident

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department investigated a reported home invasion rape/robbery and assault that was reported in the Clara Community October 9th 2008. The initial report alleged that a masked male forcibly entered the residence around 0730 hours and committed the crime. Late Friday evening, the investigation, as well as evidence collected at the scene, revealed that the crime was falsely reported. The individual reporting the alleged rape is being treated by medical professionals. Sheriff Farrior, Deputies Tim Hollinghead and Johnny Walker, Investigators Mike Mozingo, & Kevin Stevens, and Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett assisted in the investigation.
The Sheriff’s Department has received numerous calls inquiring as to whether the rapist had been captured. “We do not want to bring attention to the incident but at the same time the citizens need to know that there is not an individual on the loose for this,” said Sheriff Farrior. The Sheriff’s Department declines to identify the individual(s) involved in the incident.
