Previous Investigation Yields Arrest

On December 4th 2008, at approximately 2300 hours, John Edward Stevens was taken into custody by Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies Charles Everett, Patrick Johnson, and Jamey Beard. John Edwards Stevens was wanted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the South Mississippi Narcotics Task Force for possession of precursor chemicals with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The arrest stems from the investigation and previous arrests on November 18th 2008, wherein Suzy Napier was charged with aggravated assault and Nicole Stevens was charged with possession of precursor chemicals with intent to manufacture methamphetamine. Investigator Mozingo discovered an AK-47 style assault firearm subsequent to serving the search warrant on John Stevens’ house located at 74 Wesley Stevens Drive. This is the one of even more arrest that are pending the completion of this investigation.

John Edward Stevens appeared before Wayne County Justice Court Judge Jane Hutto and set cash bonds for Stevens at $40,000 and $10,000. Investigator Kevin Stevens will present the firearm case and SMNTF Agent Joey Moulds will present the drug case to the June 2009 Wayne County Grand Jury.
