Chambers & Gandy Plead In Capitol Murder Case

Two of the three individuals charged with the August 5th 2007 capitol murder of Hugh Walker have pled guilty in Wayne County Circuit Court. Walker was killed during an armed robbery that occurred on Walker’s property located in the Sunlight community. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department’s investigation resulted in the charging of Steve Jermaine Chambers, Arthur Lee Gandy, and Hubert Mayfield with capitol murder and armed robbery.
On Tuesday, December 16th 2008, Steve Jermaine Chambers pled guilty to Life and on Thursday, December 18th 2008, Arthur Lee Gandy pled guilty to Life without the possibility of parole. Circuit Court Judge Lester Williamson Jr, presided over both cases and District Attorney Bilbo Mitchell prosecuted the case, while Defense Attorney Andy Davis represented Gandy and Defense Attorney Marcus Evans represented Chambers. Mayfield’s case is still pending.
