WCSO Deputies Make Drug Arrest At Drug & Alcohol Check Point

On May 8th 2009, Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Purvis Everett and Teresa Mitchell at a drug and alcohol checkpoint on Waynesboro Shubuta Road. Deputies Charles Everette, Patrick Johnson, Jamey Beard, and Kyle Smith were participating in the check point when the vehicle approached. Everett was arrested and charged with possession of beer in dry county and public drunk. Mitchell was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The deputies discovered approximately 4.7 grams of crack cocaine in the vehicle. The South Mississippi Narcotics Task Force had an active warrant on Purvis Everett for sale of cocaine.
SMNTF Agent Joey Moulds charged Purvis Everett and Teresa Mitchell with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. SMNTF Agent Moulds will present the case to the June 2009 Wayne County Grand Jury.
