Four individuals from New Orleans, La, have been charged with two counts of kidnaping, armed robbery, and burglary of a dwelling. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department received the call at approximately 1248 hours on June 29th 2009 reporting a robbery at a residence located on Dyess Bridge Road. It was reported that four black males entered the home and displayed some firearms and then restrained the mother and son. They demanded money and eventually left the residence with some firearms, cell phones, jewelry, and other items. They made no effort to hide their faces. The victims gave a very good description of the suspects and the vehicle they fled the scene with. Officers of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department responded while Officers with the Waynesboro Police Department, and South Mississippi Narcotics Task Force began looking for the vehicle in and around town. WCSO Officers recovered physical evidence from the scene and will be submitted to the Mississippi Crime Laboratory.
Within about fifteen minutes, Narcotics Task Force Agents and Waynesboro Police Department Officers located the vehicle near the Azalea Drive and Mississippi Drive Intersection and conducted a traffic stop taking four suspects into custody. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the victims’ firearm, credit cards, and other items in the vehicle. “The Dispatchers at the Emergency Operations Center did a good job of relaying this pertinent information to all agencies which led to the apprehension of these individuals.” said Sheriff Farrior. All four of the individuals appeared before Wayne County Justice Court Judge Jane Hutto who set a total of $1,000,000.00 cash bond.
